Shands Cancer Hospital at UF opened in November 2009. The 500,000-square-foot facility includes 192 private rooms for a variety of inpatients, including those receiving diagnostic and therapeutic oncology services. Shands Cancer Hospital also includes the state-of-the-art Shands Critical Care Center, which houses emergency and trauma services including north central Florida’s only Level I Trauma Center. Experts can treat up to 100,000 emergency patients a year.
